How to Tag Someone on Instagram Reels After Posting: A Step-by-Step Guide

Instagram reels have become a popular form of content on the platform, allowing users to showcase their creativity and engage with their audience. However, it's not uncommon to forget to tag someone in a reel after posting it. Thankfully, Instagram provides a solution that allows you to tag people on a reel even after it has been published. In this guide, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of tagging someone on Instagram reels after posting.

Step 1: Launch the Instagram Mobile App

To begin, open the Instagram mobile app on your smartphone. From the home tab, navigate to the profile tab by tapping on your profile picture thumbnail located on the rightmost icon at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Access the Reels Section

On the profile tab, you will find three icons arranged in a column below your profile picture, username, bio, and highlights section. Tap on the middle icon, which represents the reels section, to view all the reels you have posted.

Step 3: Locate the Reel You Want to Edit

Scroll through the reels section until you find the specific reel in which you forgot to tag someone. If it's a recent mistake, it should be one of the first few reels, making it easily accessible.

Step 4: Open the Reel in Full Display

Tap on the reel you want to edit to open it in full display. At the bottom right corner of the screen, you will notice an audio icon with a musical note. Right above it, there will be an ellipsis icon (three dots arranged horizontally). Tap on the ellipsis icon to access the options menu.

Step 5: Access the Tag People Option

Once you tap on the ellipsis icon, a menu will slide up your screen with various options. Look for the "Tag People" option and tap on it to proceed with tagging someone on your reel.

Step 6: Add the Username of the Person You Want to Tag

After selecting the "Tag People" option, you will be prompted to add the username of the person you want to tag. Type in the username in the search bar and select the correct account from the suggestions.

Step 7: Confirm the Tagging

Once you have entered the username, confirm the tagging by tapping on the username. This will ensure that the person is properly tagged in your reel.

Step 8: Make Further Changes (Optional)

If you want to make additional changes to your reel, such as turning on/off commenting, hiding or unhiding likes, adding your location, showing or hiding captions, changing the description or title of the reel, remixing with another video, or even deleting it, you can do so using the options available in the editing menu.

Step 9: Save and Publish the Updated Reel

After making any desired changes, save your edits and publish the updated reel. Your tagged reel will now be visible to the person you tagged, as well as their followers.

Step 10: Prevent Random Tagging (Optional)

If you want to prevent random people from tagging you in their reels, you can adjust your privacy settings on Instagram. This will allow you to have more control over who can tag you in their content.

By following these steps, you can easily tag someone on Instagram reels after posting them. Tagging others in your reels not only increases engagement but also allows you to collaborate, mention, and give credit to others. Make the most out of this feature to enhance your reel content and connect with your audience.
